This was an unusual experience. I am in the area for business and my frame of reference is based on clubs in Philadelphia, New York, Pittsburgh, Miami, etc. The Hurricane Club would not exist in those venues. It is fine for what it is -- the sole club for miles around.
I was immediately confronted by a hand-written sign on the front door that pointedly threatened customers not to touch the dancers on penalty of having the police called to take you away. I assume this signage is motivated by the recent law-enforced closure of Rumorz down the street. You have to be buzzed in as the door is kept firmly locked. Paid a $5 cover. On the upside, the bartender is a quite pretty, smart and friendly. Thus endeth the upside. It seems like the place was populated by locals. The ladies hung out with them until, on occasion, one would get up to dance a bit. Even on stage, the ladies interacted with the locals more than danced. Drinks were served in a plastic cup. The inside is uniformly dingy. The men's room has a cloth curtain instead of a door, was filthy and smelled. I had a lap dance (2 for $40/3 for $50). The dancer had us wait 15 minutes to make sure we got the "good" room. During this wait, she wandered off to hang out with local guys. I can't imagine what the other LD rooms are like if this was the best of them. The "good" LD room has a narrow platform with a wooden chair for the customer. It is somewhat private in that the doorway is covered by a curtain made from plastic tinsel. The floor looks like it was last cleaned when West Virginia was still part of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The walls are streaked with some sort of white goo (I hope it isn't what I first thought). There was zero contact with the dancer.
