From the outside Union Jacks looks like an old run down and possibly haunted building that at one time could have been quite charming. Once you enter the dim red lighting and gaudy decor give the impression a David Lynch movie set and the Russian Mafia merged together.

UJ's features two stages, plenty of private dance areas, a VIP section (VIP cards are available for purchase, or if you are lucky or someone they find interesting you just might be given one...they never expire and are good for free admission, etc.) They have a full bar, and the bartender, although not known for smiling or his friendly demeanor, is certainly one of the best in town. He is fast, pours a mean drink, and will take care of you if you tip well.

Now on to the dancers....once upon a time UJ's had an eclectic group of some of THE hottest dancers in Portland. There was every style from fully tattooed Suicide Girl type to huge chested barbie looking girls. All shapes and sizes but still all sizzling hot. In the last four years it's been a decline. It seems like they are going for QUANTITY instead of QUALITY. I would much rather see 8-10 beautiful girls than 17 girls, most of whom should not even be scheduled for a day shift. I wish I could take all of the collective opinions like mine and share them with whoever does the booking.

In an over saturated market such as Portland, you HAVE to stay on your toes. You have to have better looking girls than the clubs around you and offer something different. It's such a shame how few beautiful girls they have and how many below average to downright gross ones have been thrown into the mix. If you do see a girl you like it could be HOURS before you can see her dance on stage again.

I'll keep checking back to see if the booking agent pulls his (or her) head out...until then fond memories are about all there is between me and Union Jacks.
