Gold Club is one of the...
Gold Club is one of the nicest strip clubs I've been to in my life. The place is clean, everyone working there (not just the dancers) were very friendly, and the decor and layout is top notch. If you go during the day the admission is only $5. If you can make it on Friday from 11:30-2pm there's an all you can eat buffet which I hear is pretty good (it's certainly the best deal in town for lunch anyway). The prices of the drinks here are a tad high but definitely reasonable for a strip club. I stuck with beer so I have no idea how good of a job they're doing with the mixed drinks. The chairs around the stage are very comfortable and the girls aren't that pushy when it comes to asking for you to buy lap dances. The ladies here varied but no one was ugly and a couple of the girls were flawless. The personalities and approach methods of the girls also ranged quite a bit. I got everything from the Latina who just brushed by me asking if I wanted a lap dance to the skinny Russian girl who came and sat her boney ass on my lap to flirt and get me to buy her a lap dance, to the short Chinese girl who came and sat beside me and seemed more interested in a friendly and lighthearted conversation more than anything.
The two things I noticed about Gold Club that were really messed up in my opinion is that their ATM has a $10 fee and that the regular $20 lap dances take place right at your chair. If you want more privacy for your lap dance expect to shell out more to go off to the side. Every strip club I've ever been to has been $20 for a lap dance that lasts 1-1.5 songs and is off in a separate more private area so this was definitely not a welcome chance of pace.
The worst part of the strip club was actually not their fault but the laws of California. For that I won't take any stars away but it bears mentioning. The first is obviously the fact that strip clubs in CA aren't fully nude (this is common in many states though). Some states have ways around this by not serving alcohol, I'm not sure if there are any fully nude dry strip clubs in SF though. The other more obscure law that is the most f-ed up thing I've ever heard of is California's 6-foot rule. This means that if it's a club where alcohol is served a dancer is prohibited from being closer than 6 feet from a patron once her top is removed (I don't know how this law applies to lap dances). This means that if you like a dancer and want to go sit up by the stage, the dancer will not only not give you any personal attention if you've got a stack of ones handy, but she'll actually move away from you once you come and sit by the stage. How do they make tips you might be asking? Well lap dances aside, people just take their money, walk up to the stage and throw the money on the stage and then walk back to their seat. If this isn't the most ass backwards rules in Otrip club history then I don't know what is. Forget prop 19, they really need to do something about this.
