Cheetahs is so far and away...

Cheetahs is so far and away the best club in San Diego that it's kind of ridiculous, and you wonder how other places manage to even stay in business (my guess: proximity to military installations). That said, it is in San Diego, which means that the mileage, while generally high for San Diego, is pretty low compared to other areas with more liberal strip club laws.

Cheetahs is located in a strip mall, which means it has ample parking (although I did have to park on the street for this visit - a first for me). Next door is a bar called the Bullpen that has some sort of relationship with Cheetahs - at lunch you can get a free burger or hot dog deliverd from there, and you can get a hand stamp at Cheetahs to re-enter the club, typcially to go next door and circumvent California's no-alcohol nude club policy. The rest of the neighborhood is all commercial, car lots, and industrial, but very safe. Cover is ususally $10, plus $8 for two pre-paid drink tickets. The cover is frequently waived, and they have a bunch of deals for out-of-towners and military guys listed on their site.

The club has a big room with a fairly large stage in the center surrounded by a couple rows of seats, then the bar further to the back. The bar has a smaller stage attached to it that gets used at busy hours, but I've also seen dancers just warming up there and not really dancing. To the right of the bar are pool tables, and further on back are the LD areas. To the left is the "VIP" area, which consists of two rows of open booths fronting an aisle. To the right is the regular LD area, which is a room surrounded by a giant bench. Dances in both areas are generally $20/song, but the VIP area has a 5 song minimum, for $100. I don't know if the deal is still going on, but you used to be able to get 4 songs for $40 in the regular area from 4-10pm - normally that area is just for single songs. One time I was lucky enough to have a dancer offer the 4/40 deal in the VIP area and I jumped right on that, but it hasn't happened again since. The club is generally fairly nice in the main area, but the couches in the VIP room definitely need some reupholstering.
