Wild Orchid is now open on...

Wild Orchid is now open on SE Division near 160th at the former location of Montego's. This is completely new construction and a lot bigger than Montego's was.  The place was packed and there was a bachelor party going on.  The place is pretty upscale for SE Portland, in fact it seems out of place (maybe because I'm so used to the average dive bars in the area).  There are two stages, a long bar, and a lot of tables with leather chairs on rollers that glide too easily on the polished concrete floor.  They have a full bar with a lot of beers on tap, and a full kitchen.  The sound system was good, but the speakers on one side of the room were cutting out, so I think they need to check the connections.  The girls were attractive, but pretty typical for Portland with no stand-outs in my opinion.  My only real complaint about the place is that it smelled like walking through the fragrance department at Macy's.  Maybe it was the scent of wild orchids, but it started to give me a headache after 10 minutes.  Maybe it's that new club smell that will wear off after a few weeks.
