Dropped by Sunset Strip for the first time this past Friday after work. The previous review outlines the club's physical layout so I won't rehash that.
The crowd is definitely blue-collar, befitting the club's location just off 290 at Mangum. While the dancers described in the previous review alluded to imports being brought in, the dancer crowd I witnessed Friday was well below par, especially when compared to St. James or Treasures. A lot of tattoos and leather with plenty of flab and cellulite in evidence. It's hard to know if a club strives to have dancers match the clientele or perhaps the clientele is drawn to the dancers hired by a club. In any event, I found that the class of dancer and clientele to be very well matched.
I had two dances from a 30something woman who admitted to being new to stripping after years of unsatisfactory employment as a secretary. She was pleasant enough while talking but she had the same sex appeal as a mom reluctantly dragging five neighborhood kids to Saturday morning soccer. Given that she spent 15 minutes talking, I asked for and received two amateurish dances. halfway through the second dance, she flew her head up, catching me under the chin hard enough that she drew blood. She apologized profusely as I dabbed blood from a small cut on my chin. Certainly a first for me.
