First post-remodel visit. Wow, I felt like I was in an entirely different club. I miss the old Rick's (though this was just one visit early on a Friday night). It's big and feels very open and exposed. I liked the sense of closeness to the stages and dancers in the old space -- it had the feel of a wild intimate party and the girls' attitudes generally matched. It was easier to hang and check things out, see who was there, pick wisely.

The stakes are higher now too -- at $30 bucks a pop in the area where the private couches are, the dollars go fast. Once there though, you can have the traditional feel it all over good time that Rick's is famous for.

Two girls I had dances from said that later at night on weekends there is a line to get into the VIP area (which everyone in the club can look into -- although the couches conceal action below the shoulders), which means standing along the pony wall with the dancer you've picked making small talk and waiting. In a Detroit club I went to once waiting for a couch spot was almost the best part of the dances I got from one girl -- lot's of good standing contact. But the remodeled Rick's is too open and light for much of that to happen while waiting for a couch.
