I finally was able to check...
I finally was able to check out the downtown outpost of the Flash chain, taking advantage of two contingent factors: one, a free admission ticket picked up at Flashdancers(*), and two, having been in lower Manhattan all day anyway.
(*FD hands out free admission cards for Dolls and Private Eyes quite freely)
Visited early evening, at the time of arrival there were about twentysome dancers around, more came in as time went by. At a point they started to outnumber the patrons resulting in notable gatherings of ladies by the doorway and in a corner of the couch area and an increase in frequency of "wanadance, no, goodbye" encounters. The dancer population had the by-now-expected-in-NY predominance of Eastern European girls but also a few Americans, including a couple of Asians and African Americans. Mostly lithe underemployed-would-be-model physiques (but for that on safe that in NY they're dume a dozen), a few sets of aftermarket parts and a handful of curvaceous gals. Apparently there were some issued with the stage scheduling as the DJ had to make repeat calls at various times and once pointendly reminded the dancers onstage to wait until her relief was physically there before stepping down.
