There was a time when MB was epic. When Mayor Willie Brown ruled SF, as they say, the glass came down at MB. In fact, google the article the glass comes down at Mitchell Brothers because it well describes the free atmosphere that existed here many years ago.

Unfortunately, it now seems that MB is living off a very old reputation. It is a very expensive club, and most dancers seem completely focused on how to separate you from your money. Of course, this is the case in every club, but MB used to at least have a veneer of fun and recklessness that doesn't really exist in the same way now.

Should you visit? It's a landmark and probably worth a visit. But if you are looking for extras, either bring a lot of cash or head somewhere else after enjoying the visual feast that is MB. It is a legend, with all the good and bad that comes along with it.
