On the north side of Houston, St. James is my usual hangout but based on a couple of reviews and the hope to find something just a bit different, I visited Houston Dolls.

I sidestepped a used condom and syringe in the parking lot and paid a $10 cover from the manager / door person. I told him that this was my first visit and of course he told me that I would not be disappointed.

Even when arriving after dark, Houston Dolls is freaky dark and takes a few minutes to adjust. A seemingly underage waitress brought me a beer and I sat down. Within seconds, a large, loud, overbearing black dancer sat down, sans invitation. After 3 minutes of small talk and the realization that she was not my type, I politely told her that I wouldn't be getting any dances for a few minutes. She said "fine, but can you tip me for my time?".
