Uncle Harry's is definitely an original...

Uncle Harry's is definitely an original and after many years of being run by two giant looking Greek Mafia guys, its under new ownership. I feel this place is a gem in the club scene but like alot of Savannah clubs, is missing a couple of things and is even hindered by a few things. By the way, what is it with the trend of hiring overweight, Ska looking bouncer & busboys? I mean is there a hiring agency for them or what? Anyway, not a great look I've gotta tell ya. Okay, so here are the hightlights. 90% beautiful girls. Different body types & a plethera of black girls which is a nice unexpected turn for this club. Kudos on being mixed. I also like the stage which is one of the area's better, albeit small. I also like the old fashioned booths near the alternative bar and the sort of sunken stage in front of them. Although, due to the sort of club saturation of the area, some of these mini-stages in town mostly gather dust on weeknights. I also think highly of the loungier room where girls do private dance stuff. It has a certain ambience. I do feel this could be more "cut off" from the rest of the club and would be more effective $ garnering if it were. It could also be made cozier dare I say. So few clubs get into their own fung shuei potential sadly. This one is no different but could upstep the competition a bit if it did. Okay, so now for the drawback. Currently they have a long haired DJ who plays great tracks but spends too much time out of his booth and is way too cocky when he's outside of it. He's acting too much like he owns the club. Maybe he does? I also feel that some of the girls here are far too complacent. Which to a degree is the Savannah clientel. I've found that here it's sexually repressed are simply dumbfounded by nudity. Which is nice for the girls because all they have to do is walk around in heels and flash some tits. But it also makes them very lazy. Girl's who don't dance, spend extraordinary time talking to each other while on stage in the middle of songs or stop altogether just to gab with one customer while on stage, should get out of the business. It makes the club look incredibly slack. There is a redhead and a brunette there who are currently guilty of this in the 2nd degree. The brunette in particular feels herself kind of a stripper demagogue and doesn't do alot except walks around and acts like she's doing something. Being in heels and a flourescent bikini do not an entertainer make. Again, as I've noted before in some of my other reviews, if clubs like this one, who do have an edge with certain things, would consider hiring an interior designer, a web & graphic designer, and or a show/costume coordinator, they'd way up the anty of what they're adding to the selection of clubs, but more importantly, what they'd be adding to their pockets and their customer's satisifaction. Its just not enough to be a nudie bar in Savannah anymore. Yet, oddly, all of these clubs are just acting idly so. Which hey, this is an opportunity for someone to come in and steal their business altogether, OR, one like a Harry's or a Gold Club, could just stand up and take the lead.
