I took a look in at the Lucky Corner the other day. It was pretty slow (just one overweight, not very appealing dancer and five customers apparently hoping an alternative would walk through the door) and it was seedy. Of all of the Akron holes in the wall that I've been to - and I admit I haven't been to all of them - this one is at least tied for the hole-iest so far. It doesn't seem like a bad neighborhood, but the bar looks like the worst part of it.

From the outside, it looks really worn. It has been there for a long time, and shows every day of it. Parking is around the back, pretty far from the door, and the dirt lot is isolated. I didn't notice during my short stay whether there were security cameras on the parking lot like a lot of places have, so you can sit at the bar and watch your car if the dancers are boring. If this place doesn't have them, it should. (I meant cameras when I wrote that, but I could have meant dancers, too.)

So you lock your car and walk around the side of the building to the front door, where you ring the bell to get in. (They do have a camera watching the door.) Inside, you walk into a room with a bar on the left and a separate room with a pool table at the far end. To the right is a doorway with some sheer cloth hanging from it. In that room, which is as big as the room with the bar in it, the dances take place.

From a previous trip there, I know that customers sit on hard, wooden benches around the edges of the room. It's much darker in there than it is in the main room, but not so dark that you can't see the goods (and the bads). The two-way contact can be pretty intense, maybe because the dancers are seasoned professionals who understand that they're not going to get far on being knockouts. (We're talking 3-4 range.)

If there's stage dancing here, it must be in the back room. I suspect there isn't. The girls meet customers at the bar, then take them to the back room for one-on-one dances. When the only dancer in the place is in the back with someone, there isn't even a TV to watch in the bar room. It's kind of a weird setup, and if you go by yourself, you either have to strike up a conversation with a stranger or just sit and listen to the jukebox.
