A return trip to a fav...
A return trip to a fav Atlanta club, and much has changed. Cover is still the same however this is my first trip since the remodel and I am somewhat indifferent to the results. The positive is quickly apparent, more tables and floor space for a club that frequently hit SRO levels and was far to small for the PM crowd, triple that on Thur-Sat nights. The ability to tip without worrying some vulture was going to pounce on your table the second you stood up is nice, however come 11 on a weekend there are still more people than seats. Its also much easier to get around your tables to the stages to tip and the bathroom, and the wait staff can get to you without climbing over other patrons.
The negative is probably only apparent to people who visited frequently in the past, and who like a certain....ambiance. The added space and changes have altered the feel of the club in a major way, at least in my eyes. Somehow the club feels much more polished, more corporate, more buttoned down, and less like a neighborhood dive. In other words it feels much more like the Cheetah or the Pink Pony, which quite a bad thing in my view.
The feel of the place extends to the dancers, who have taken quite a downturn in quality since my last visit. They are still a fairly attractive lot, althoug mostly on the low end of the cup size spectrum, with no real porkers among them. However they have been infected with a cheetah like feeling of entitlement and no longer work as they once did. You go to tip a girl and perhaps ask for a dance (why would I drag my ass out of my chair to tip you on stage otherwise????) and they don't even do the obligatory dance in front of you for 5 seconds, they just stop instantly and open their garter. No how are you, no shaking of the assets, nothing. And after they come off stage, do they revisit the table of the person who just walked across the club to tip them? Of course not.
