I hit up Rick's on a relatively slow Monday night, after stopping into several other Bourbon Street spots to get a feel for the town. First distinction I noticed (and not a good one) - while everybody else either had no cover, or were giving out free passes, the Rick's bouncer only offered to discount the cover. Should have been a warning sign! I checked TUSCL on my mobile, and saw pretty good reviews, so I dropped the $5-$10 (I forget). The place looked as described - upscale decor, nice looking (though not many) ladies, dressed in classy outfits. Only one stage, and what seems to be an elevator up to the VIP room.
But that's where the good news ends, at least on this particular night. There seemed to be less than 10 girls on the floor, and _all_ of them were chilling with customers - maybe they were regulars, or high rollers. I found a good seat by the stage, and when a lovely gal came down after her turn to dance, I handed her a few $'s and asked if she had already been claimed. She was really friendly, gave me a thank you kiss on the cheek, and said she did have to go see one person before me, but that she'd try to come by soon. Well soon must have meant 30+ minutes later! I sat, and watched some less attractive-looking chicks dance, while my gal, and all the other beauties, just sat at tables and talked with other fellas. No lap dances, no VIP room trips, just talking and laughing like we were at a restaurant!
Suffice to say, after being ignored for half an hour, I took my lightened wallet (drinks weren't cheap either), finished my drink, and headed for the door. Perhaps this place is more lively on the weekend, with more girls available, or girls who want to give some business to customers, but on a Monday, stick with the free entry spots - try Scores Mansion down the block.
