First experience in a New York...
First experience in a New York strip club as a New Jersey club enthusiast, and I was rather disappointed. I showed up to Gallaghers on a Saturday night, thinking that this would be the night where they put their best dancers on stage. There’s a $10 cover charge, $9 beer, and $20 dance per song. The club was located in an extremely convenient area just outside of Manhattan, so it was significantly less expensive than the larger midtown clubs, and only a block away from the subway station. The club seemed clean and friendly and surprisingly empty, which led to a comfortable seat right up at the bar.
While the club itself left little to be desired, the dancers were disappointing. There are 3 dancers on the main stage for 2-3 songs at a time, with a 4th dancer on a pole off to the side. At the end of each dance session, the 4 dancers on stage would come around for dollar tips, which means you are only tipping every 10 minutes or so. Unfortunately, dancers would occasionally come around for tips while nobody was entertaining on the main stage, but I still found myself tipping much less often than the average club. However, the dancers merely ranged from 5-7 with not one standout in the 90 minutes I was there. Overall, the club was well maintained, and conveniently located with satisfactory dollar value, but the dancers were a bit too old for my taste, and not enough to hold my interest.
