I went to 2001 Odyssey on a Monday night. Showing your hotel key will get $5 knocked off of the $15 cover charge. The club allows in-and-out for the rest of the evening once the cover is paid. The inside is small, at least compared to the clubs I’m used to, and the décor appears to be stuck in the 1980’s. The chairs have metal backs that are rather uncomfortable. No alcohol is served. Your options are water, soda, juice, energy drinks, or alcoholic-free beer or wine such as Fre. I think a juice cost me $6 and a soda was $4 if I remembered correctly. There was a main stage with a small secondary stage off on the left side of the main. Both had poles. Tipping a girl at the stage was useful in getting a girl’s attention. Lap dances are conducted in booths off to the right of the stage. You must pay a $5 fee to take a dancer back there, but do not have to pay the fee again if you decide to take the same dancer back for a subsequent string of dances. The dance itself costs $25. Passerby’s can see into the booth so privacy is minimal. More privacy is available with spaceship dances upstairs, which are $120 for 15 minutes and $200 for 30 minutes. The spaceship attached to the building is a Futuro House—a prefabricated flying saucer made of plastic and fiberglass. There were only 100 built. I wanted to see what it was like to go inside a UFO, so I opted for a 15 minute spaceship visit. Inside there is a bunch of booths lining the perimeter of the saucer with thin curtains across their entrances. A woman sits upstairs at a bar in the middle of the saucer to collect the money. I took an eighteen year old spinner up there, which procured me lots of making out and nipple sucking, but no southern exploration. She hinted that we could both get naked in the champagne room. The champagne room is off of the main floor somewhere and apparently has no cameras. It costs $400 for a half hour, which is expensive no matter what you get. I think the dancer only gets to keep $250 of it but don’t quote me on it. The club’s DJ plays rock, pop, and hip hop. The music is very loud.
The dancers at 2001 were slightly subpar to Mons’ in average visual quality, but they were more interactive which made up for it. I'd rate most 6-9. The dancers ranged from eighteen to mid-30’s with a healthy mix of all ethnicities. The regular lap dances are full nude and two-way contact, yet most dancers push hard to sell the spaceship and CR and claim they will give even more contact. Some girls appeared to be upselling while others boldly hinted at extracurricular activity with more paper spent. Your mileage will vary.
There is a Sonic Drive-in just north of 2001 Odyssey if you get hungry. Just south of 2001 is a conveniently located HoJo, but based on the reviews on Trip Advisor, you’ll be cohabiting with cockroaches, bedbugs, and mold. I’d come back to 2001 Odyssey if I was in Tampa, but would not want to come to such a small club on a busy night.
