Thursday night, we went to Old San Juan and a street hustler advised us that we got to Frenchy's for adult entertainment. So we get a cab and head over there. Cover was $20 pp, which should have already tipped us off that it was going to be a big shake down. We go in, they ask us if we want a drink and we said no thanks. We move to a couple chairs by the stage and are enjoying the show when we're asked, once again, if we want a drink, Again, we said no thanks. We keep watching the show, get our singles out and wait for the dancer to come our way. Well, at that pint, one of the male employees comes up to us again and demands to know what we'll be drinking. That's when my husband started to lose it. Long story short, this establishment states that patrons are required to buy beverages to stay in the club. Never mind that they already got $40 from us in cover charges. We were going to just have water, but it was $5 pp and my husband felt like we were going to be forced to buy overpriced water every 15 minutes. He started to argue with the henchmen about how deceptive they were and how it was not clearly posted or stated to us that we were required to buy drinks while there. They kind of had it with us at that point and we were walked out. They bouncer couldn't show us where it was posted that we had to buy drinks, but one of the cabbies did point it out of this huge sign they had by the entrance that was written in Spanish. The statement in question was in small writing toward the bottom of the sign. Personally, I would have been ok with staying for a bit and having some overpriced water, as the dancers were fairly attractive, and the potential for fun was definitely there, Unfortunately, hubby was infuriated by the whole thing and pretty much got us into too much "trouble" to comfortably stay anymore. We eventually found a cab and went back to our hotel.
