Back to “Broadway’s longest running show” on a Friday night. It was around 10pm, according to several dancers I spoke with; Friday’s start a little slow but pick up after 11:30pm. Flashdancers is my longtime favorite, stop in every few months, gone are my days of regular visits to see certain dancers. Standard FD’s fare, about 40 dancers, many eastern Europeans, especially Russians, with a sprinkle of Latinas, Asians and a few Blacks. Very rarely you will find anything below an 8 and there were several high 9s. Most dancers approach with the usual questions “where are you from?” “first time here?” “why haven’t I seen you hear?” followed by “would you like a naughty dance?”. A polite smile and “no thanks” usually send them on their way. LDs are usually very solid and the intensity of dances usually improves after about two dances. On this night I had a few dances from a sexy “Venezuelan/Columbia” brunette and a Russian blonde. Your results will vary from dancer to dancer but generally FDs is a goodtime and worth a visit.
