I visited Follies on a recent...

I visited Follies on a recent Friday afternoon. The club was fairly busy; one dancer mentioned that Follies is known as a daytime club. (I've never been at night, so I can't offer a comparison.) The prime seats -- high chairs and tables in the shadows along the outside wall -- were filled, and that's where most of the dancers spent their time. Two dancers were on stages that formed a ring around the bar, which is at the center of the club.

The club has a variety of ethnicities -- in dancers and clientele. Lots of tattoos and piercings, if that's your thing. Only a few dancers were circulating. I got a couple of dances at a table near the stage -- some grind and touching, but there's more contact for those sitting along the outside wall. A young, skinny dancer sat down next to me. After a few decent dances, I decided to check out the VIP, which is a large, dark room behind a beaded curtain. She said she'd meet me inside. There was another couple on a couch in the upper level, so I opted for a cushy chair just inside the door -- easy to see out, but it took several minutes for my eyes to adjust to the black light inside. She was a hard worker, but too mechanical. She suggested that repeat visitors would have a better experience, explaining that a few undercover encounters had dampened the experience in the VIP.
