I had a bad experience at Glory Daze...And, from what I later learned, most African Americans visiting this club will have a similarly bad experience. I wandered in after learning about it from a dancer at another club. When I got there, there were four girls. Average looking, but they were giving high mileage dances right at the bar. And everybody seemed polite.
I ordered a beer and sat and waited for one of the dancers to approach. Keep in mind, I'm a professional who is well-dressed and well-groomed, respectful, educated, with money to spend. None of the girls would approach me, so I left.
I came back a week later. A nice-looking girl immediately approached me. She told me it was her first day there. A song later, she was giving me a dance. During the middle of that dance, another dancer came over and whispered into her ear. When that dancer left, the one who was dancing for me told me that the dancer told her that she could get fired for dancing for a black customer. The dancer, who was black, was a bit taken aback.
I left after the dance and went to Lusty's. I told one of the dancers I knew there the story. She laughed at me and told me "everybody already knew that." She then called over one of the other dancers who used to work at Glory Daze. That dancer went on to confirm what had been whispered into the dancer's ear at Glory Daze.
