Stopped by between some meetings downtown...
Stopped by between some meetings downtown to check out Good Guys. It's a little off of my beaten path, so I'd never really had an opportunity before.
Like a lot of places in DC that are in older buildings, it's a long, narrow club. Camelot seems to make that work OK. Good guys takes an unusual approach to it: there are three small (4' x 6') stages spaced out along the long wall on your right as you come in the club. The bar is tiny, and tucked in the very back of the club. Most of the tables are along the left long wall. They're rectangular (beer hall style) tables and set up perpendicular to the wall, with the chairs turned sideways to face the stages. There are also a few tables between the stages on the other wall. There is also a door near the back on the left wall that either leads outside or into the kitchen on the left wall. It makes a loud, "BANG" when used if whomever went through it isn't careful. This is very distracting, especially if you're within 15 - 20 feet of it. I saw some steps leading upstairs on my left as I came in. I assumed there was additional "club space" up there, but one of the dancers told me it was just offices. Overall, the physical quality is poor. It doesn't have the smell issues of Royal palace, but the furnishings are old, and the layout doesn't work. More on that in a bit.
There were eight girls working the day I stopped in. I was told there are usually nine in the afternoon and twelve at night. Multiples of three makes the rotation work. Since they were down a girl, it caused issues all but one time there was a rotation while I was there. Of the eight working this day, I'd say there was one 4, two 5s, three 6s, a seven, and an 8. Like most DC places, you can either walk up a get a close up view and leave a tip, or the girls will come around after their rotation to introduce themselves and accept any tip you want to give. Since they don't wear garters, if you tip on stage, they have to toss the money into a pile at the back of the stage. While this makes viewing the girls a little nicer (no blossom of bills around their thigh), for me it just looks trashy for the girls to be sweeping a pile of money into the corner of their space. All of the girls were friendly and most put on a decent or better performance while on the stage. Overall, I was pleased with the talent in terms of attitude and enthusiasm. They should cut the bottom quarter of the pool and up the average a bit.
