This remains my favorite Boston-area club, which I guess is kind of weird. There's no liquor license (many years ago they had one), and the 18+ admission means there are a lot of college kids coming in during the busy times. The club layout is simple. You almost bump into the bar, or what's left of it, as you enter the place. The large stage is in the corner. As one reviewer pointed out, some girls come on stage from the back, others come on from the seats. The private dances aren't that private. You either go to an alcove over by the DJ booth or one of the benches that line the place.
Massachusetts has these ludicrous rules about "air dances" and keeping a safe distance from the dancers on stage. With no alcohol, Massachusetts' no smoking policy and the lack of privacy, you'd think Mac's would die a slow death. Yet it's still here. Why? The dancers are friendly, and you can actually TALK to them without much hustle. You'll often get a face full of something good when you tip the girls on stage. Many of the girls have creative ways of making the "air dances" interesting, and they're real, which is refreshing. It's a fun place to stop by, and I have my favorites. I just can't give the club a higher number because I keep thinking, "If only this was Providence..."
