I decided to venture away from my faithful favorite San Antonio clubs to check out some of the other places in town. The Wild Zebra is in an odd location, right on Loop 410 but at the back end of what looks to have been a former strip center. There's an adult video/novelty store about halfway down the strip, and then the Zebra is in an almost invisible place at the end. It clearly wasn't designed to be a strip club, but I guess it takes all kinds. I went in on a weekday just after noon. The place seemed small, though jammed with tables and chairs so that privacy would be hard to come by. The low ceiling just adds to the cramped feeling. There seemed to be four or five dancers working, none above a 6, and almost all with multiple tattoos. At first I thought all the dancers were hispanic or black, but I was soon approached by a blonde named G*****. She was curvy and a little well-padded, but that doesn't bother me much. She made small talk for a minute before asking if I wanted a dance. Dances were only five bucks, so I had nothing to lose by saying yes. She gave a fairly high contact dance, topless...although I think she had that latex on her nipples...ugh. Although she had no problems with my roving hands, I didn't ask for another dance since I wasn't especially attracted to G*****. She moved on and I looked around a bit. The few patrons seemed to all be wearing sideways baseball caps and the music was mostly rap. I ordered a soft drink and it was served in a tall mug, the largest soda I've ever been served in a club. Unfortunately, it tasted like the worst kind of "bar gun" crap. In my glances around the room, I didn't see a VIP area. There's probably one there somewhere, but I didn't see anybody I'd like to take to a private spot. So, I guess five dollar dances are a plus, but I doubt I'll return to this club. Didn't like the selection of girls, the music, the layout, or the drinks.
