It seemz like the old needle and thud plague is hitting more of the bars on the Block recently. At least three of my trips in the past several weeks, including one to the venerable Circus, have been marred by buying a dancer a drink and having her nod off in mid-conversation. For a while it seemed that this was becoming a rare thing, and maybe it's just a sign of the desperation of the coming holidays, but it's disappointing. I realize that the women who gravitate to this line of work have problems that most of us don't identify with, but it's bad for business, and can lead to the kind of undisciplined behavior that can put both staff and customers at risk. I hope management will see this light.
