Some things in life never change,...

Some things in life never change, and Bogart's seems to be one of them. I visited Friday afternoon for the first time in months. It was a nice Michigan fall day so the crowd was very small. But, it was the typical crowd ... locals killing time before going home or just warming up for a big Friday night. There were lots of girls on shift, many I had never seen before, and the quality seemed better than usual. The dancers were pushing hard to make a buck since it really was a very small crowd. I had barely sat down when a new dancer sat next to me and took matters into her own hand. It didn't take long to get me up to the VIP for a couple laps. Same old chairs with the cracked vinyl. Same old filthy floors. No fresh paint during my lifetime. Both private booths were occupied so we did our business in the open area not 5 feet from the bouncer and alongside another 4 couples doing the same things we were. Kind of has that porn movie feel. But it was hilarious watching a mostly naked girl jump out from behind the curtain, grab a couple feet of paper towel from the table next to the bouncer, then back behind the curtain she'd go. Soon she and her customer would exit grinning like teenagers who had just been caught. They should just put the towels in curtained areas and cut down on the traffic but then again they might be concerned about keeping things clean ... yeh, right.

After a few more drinks I was approached by a gorgeous black woman. Up to the VIP we went but this time one of the booths was open. Believe me, they're nothing fancy but I'm a little surprised they don't charge extra for their use. A couple beat up chairs is about it. Be careful if you're claustrophobic, there isn't much room. Anyway, per Bogart's standard policy, everything is available and for very reasonable prices Soon it was my time to exit the curtained area. I was hoping for cheers for a job well done but I was met by bored indifference.

While Bogart's seems to have little to recommend it, it's just one of those places that's more than the sum of it's parts. I'm sure I'll be back but it'll likely be a few months.
