The Penthouse is located on Iberville...
The Penthouse is located on Iberville just a half block off of Bourbon Street. This is probably the most upscale club in New Orleans along with Rick's. The cover is $1 early in the day and $11 once things get going. Dress up nicely or you will be out of place. Bring lots of money too. On the night I was there, patrons would stage tip $5, $10, and $20 bills. The Penthouse has one bar on the street and two bars inside. A bottle of beer is $7.25 and cocktails are around $12. There is a large main stage and two satellite stages. At busy times all three will be in use. The upstairs has the VIP rooms and private dance booths. The music here was top 40, pop, and rock mostly. The DJ was not annoying at all.
At most clubs in New Orleans, quality varies with the seasons. Penthouse is the exception. It is a consistent 7up factory. The hiring process here is very selective for dancers. Many dancers want to work here, but most get turned away if they don't have the looks or experience. I noticed nearly all the dancers were in their twenties, white, could hold a conversation, and at least decent on the pole. Table dances are $20. Private dances are $40. The staff is actually pretty good here. The waitresses are hot and accept "no" when you don't want another drink. The managers and security treat you like an actual person. (The Larry Flynt wannabe tough guys/pimps should take a lesson.) The owners of this club also own the Gold Club in Baton Rouge, the Crazy Horse in Port Allen, the Crazy Horse Too in Geismar, and the Penthouse Club in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The annual Gold G-string Awards take place at the Penthouse Club, Ash Wednesday through the following weekend, every year.
