I visited Baby Dolls for on a recent Thursday evening for the first time in a long while. Those with long memories probably recall the club's glory days when 30 dancers worked everyday for a roomful of customers.

As I said, it's has been a while since I've been there and I knew those days were over with the opening of more clubs in Topeka and the area, but I didn't realize just how badly things and slid.

The club is still physically attractive and probably has the best stage, customer seating and VIP setup of the Kansas clubs. But there's not much beyond that to recommend it.

Yes it was a weekend night, but there was only 5 dancers -- who might better be characterized as sitters. They were attractive, and I was interested in a more-than-likely enhanced long dark-haired dancer. However, her interest was hanging at the bar playing a video game.

After a couple of over-priced bottles of water, I was finally approached by a mixed-ethnic dancer. I had a couple dances on the floor-- $10 bucks for no contact, $20 for a contact dance. Mileage was so-so. Dancer was friendly and talkative. A part-timer with a career outside of dancing. Had about four dances and tipped her $20, for which she was very appreciative.
