I agree with most of your review, I went here recently also though I personally thought that (at the time I went) the girls were pretty good looking and there was quite a bit of variety, but I suspect that may be due to the New Year and some of the better talent choosing to stay home for the holiday since you said you came in on Saturday.
I agree that the drink prices are absurd but the hunt for value in NYC is a difficult one, and as a general rule if it’s cheaper around here it’s probably because there is some sort of catch that could be a dealbreaker for many, such as being in a not-so-safe neighborhood (i.e. NYC Gentleman’s Club, some don’t mind the area but I personally wouldn’t feel safe there).
Since you said you wanted to try some other places out, let me just let you know to stay away from Vivid (which is somehow a club owned by the same parent company as Rick’s) because it is usually dead until super late at night, and that is probably because the prices are still super high, but the dancers more likely to disappoint from an attractiveness standpoint (quality of dances also varies).
Hoops is right next to Rick’s and is owned by the same company also. I’ve never been, but from what I can gather it’s not as bad as Vivid at the very least.
I’ve heard generally decent things about all of the Sapphire’s clubs but get ready to spend a lot there too. Haven’t been myself but know a bunch of people who have.
The Flashdancers locations are probably your best bet for value, though it has been ages since I went (pre-COVID).
I actually know somebody who bartended at one of the locations (and also Rick’s and Gallagher’s 2000) and she had generally nice things to say about all three of them, but she worked a long time ago (also pre-COVID) and I’ve never been to Gallagher’s so those takes can be fairly outdated.
