my new favorite
This review is written by non-local, infrequent visitor, for other non-local infrequent visitors. The experience of locals, who are able to visit often and even become acquainted with individual talent, undoubtedly is different from that which I describe in this review. Nevertheless, I can only call it as I see it.
Overall, my review is positive—so much so that I went again the next night.
I visited the club on a Wednesday evening around 8:30, then a Thursday evening also at 8:30. I had no trouble finding parking. Parking was $2, safe and well lit, cover was $10.
The club is reasonably large (though not the largest). Even though it was busy, I did not find it excessively crowded.
There are three stages: the main one fits two dancers; the side stage fits one, and there is also a stage in the middle of the bar fitting one. Dtuscl says there are four stages but I don’t remember seeing a fourth one. (Maybe it was out of the way and unoccupied and I just didn’t notice it.)
The music, although typically loud, was at a comfortable volume—so I could actually hear what people were saying to me! (This is consistent with Dolfan’s very fine, thorough review.)
The dancers appear to be all Latina, with the vast majority being Cuban. Looks range from 5 to 9. Colorings range from fair brunette though Mestiza to black. A few blonds but almost certainly not natural. Body types range from spinner to athletic (and a couple of curvies).
The dancers are generally friendly and some will even kiss you on the lips if you’re amenable to that. However, some were a bit too aggressive for my taste. Most would leave me alone after my first “No, but thank you for asking”, but I had to give one of them a very stern “Buena noche!” for the third time to get her to leave me alone. That’s rare, though, and it wouldn’t keep me from going back. One dancer—Susan—was very aggressive, yet to her credit, she was also quite friendly and her private dances were very good.
At this club, the staff and talent were calling the low-end private dances “VIP dances” (= “private dances” at DD). These are $25 per song, payable directly to the dancer. They take place in a separate section of the club, but the spaces are shared, with no privacy (no curtains), and constantly monitored. They are topless only.
They called the high-end spaces “champagne rooms” (= “VIP dances” at DD). That’s a misnomer in my view, for they are nothing more than curtained booths. There are curtains for privacy and they appear to be unmonitored. However, they are furnished only with a chair, forcing the customer to sit upright for the duration of the dance. Cost is $75 for 15-20 minutes, payable to the club. Each dancer sets her own price. One dancer quoted me $400 and would not haggle so I had to walk away. Another dancer quoted me $300 and she was worth more. $300 seems to be about the benchmark price at Cheetah, at least for non-local, infrequent visitors. For the quality of dancer and mileage you get in the champagne room, I’m happy to pay that.
There is also a larger curtained room with a couch (nice!), which costs $150 for a half-hour. The $300 dancer quoted me $500 for that one. I had to pass for lack of money, but one day I’ll probably spring for it.
This makes Cheetah more expensive than most (all?) other clubs in Pompano Beach. But in my book, that’s okay as long as you get what you paid for. I most definitely did. I had VIP dances with two girls and both were wonderful. I had a champagne dance with one and enjoyed it so much that I scheduled an appointment with her for the next night (and she kept the appointment!).
Bottom line: pricey, but worth it and I’ll definitely go back.
