Well, Annie's Uppertown Tavern has been serving Astoria's strip joint jones for years and years. As the only game in town, I don't think they're too worried about what anybody thinks. I get out to the coast from the big city fairly frequently, but only occasionally do I darken the door at Annie's Uppertown. It's always been a bit of a mixed bag. The dancers generally trend toward the haggard and worn out end of things, but as with a lot of places like this, one can occasionally run across a diamond in the rough. Some of the ladies come over from Portland, but it seems there are some locals from the North Coast and down from the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington. The place itself is rather dark and dusty, with that musty vibe that comes from all that rain out there. Bartenders are present, though not particularly friendly (maybe they're better with regulars). I've been in there when it's been completely Deadsiville in there (the dancers seemed pretty excited to see someone walk through the door). I've also been in there when it's been pretty hopping with working class locals and young fellas from the Coast Guard station there in Astoria. Thank you for your service, guys. The stage is low, surrounded by long tables. I've never ventured back to the private dance area, but it appears fairly private, and I wouldn't be surprised if some of the ladies are fairly enthusiastic private dancers. I look forward to rolling the dice at Annie's Uppertown next time I'm out that way.

The Riverside Corral has been holding down the east end of the Sellwood Bridge for many years. I've been there a few times, as it's fairly close to where I work. I've never had a great time there. It seems to be very much a neighborhood kind of place, which is fine if you're a regular from the neighborhood. If you're just an occasional drop-in, however, you may not get the time of day. I've been in when there have been 3-4 dancers on the schedule, and they can be seen walking around, but none of them actually get up on stage to shake their stuff. I've been given the hairy eyeball by the bartender when I approach the bar to buy a beer and lottery tickets. It's just a bit standoffish overall, I'd say. When there have actually been women dancing on the stage, it's been alright. Dancer quality varies. There seem to be more "mature" dancers at this joint in general. Not necessarily a bad thing, but good to know if you're the "barely legal" type. Some of the dancers are friendly, and some have been like the bartender I mentioned above, with a bit of a "who are you and what are you doing here?" kind of look to them. I've never been offered or had any desire to buy a private dance here, so I can't speak to that. All in all, if you're in the neighborhood and passing by, give it a shot, but don't make a special trip to this place.

Bartender was friendly, but the club was pretty dead. 4 or 5 dancers doing their thing. 1 or 2 were foxy, the others were not. Varying ethnicities and body types, which is good. I got a private dance for $25 from a lady named Sadie. She hopped right on my lap and got right up in my grill. Thanks, Sadie! It seems like the kind of place that's pretty hit or miss. You may get lucky and see a lovely lady shaking her thing, or you may get the dregs. I've been in there on a Saturday and there's only been one dancer (poor girl). Some of the dancers are a bit pushy about selling private dancers, and some aren't. It's definitely an improvement on the previous incarnations of this club where the dancers were trying to get clients for the jack shack out back. I'd give it a shot if you're in the area, you may get lucky or you may run screaming from the building.
