House of Eden is a strip club with a roadhouse vibe that’s set in the heart of Fullerton’s industrial zone. It’s a club that invites you to come as you are, and extends that invitation to the dancers who grace its stage. They come in all shapes, colors, sizes, and while not everyone will consider every dancer to their liking, every dancer is beautiful to the clientele who stop by. This is one of the few clubs I return to on a regular basis. It doesn’t have frills, won’t cater to mongers, but there’s a vibe that, once the dancers get going, energizes you above and beyond the thumping bass and the cans of Red Bull. You see it with Zola: a vivacious dancer who knows her way around a stage and around her audience. Spinner, A cups, she harnesses her athleticism both around the pole and in the club’s seedy cubicle-booths. She talks a mile a minute, and deliberately avoids the typical dancer-client conversations that other girls initiate. Which is something else about this club. Not one person in this club has initiated a conversation with: “Wanna dance?” They all sit down next to you, ask you how your day was, chat about stuff. The topic of dancing will come up, sure. But it’s after a genuine “get to know you” session. Take Rochelle: a tall, statuesque woman with long legs and long hair. She sits down next to you, places both hands on her knees and gives a little wiggle of her hips to settle in with a genuine smile that says: “I sure do like hanging out with you.” Conversations with her have ranged from favorite music to fashion. She’ll offer to hang out with you in the patio if you decide to grab some grub. There’s no rush, no hard sell. She’s aggressive in the VIP section, dominating the booth and your lap in a way that belies the sweet exterior. If you like your vanilla Southern Californian strip club beauties, don’t come here. But if you just want to go someplace where you can relax, grab a beer, and interact with scantily clad women of all types, give this place a try.
