Alas Poor RJ's I knew him well. Just as Yorik was dead in Hamlet Rj's Platinum Lounge is dead in Avenel, NJ on Saturday May 30th they had their last Hurah! As of June 1 the club is closed. Rumers have been going around fom months that Woodbridge Township was going to pull their license and it has finally come true.

The Platinum Lounge better known as RJ's is a typical local club. My experience here is usually with the day shift. Usually there are 2 or 3 entertainers 4 on Friday's. The quality of the dancers are girl next door. The girls are usually very friendly some more "friendly" than others. You won't find any centerfolds but there are not any bow-wows either. If "Shelly" is there (check on Friday after 3pm) you can always expect the unexpected.

Stopped in on a Wed. night around 7:00 PM. There was 1 dancer on stage and another waiting her shift. I was the 3rd customer in the bar. The dancer was blond a bit older, but cute and had a nice body. She was complaining that it was hot on stage and too cold when she came down for tips. She was very nice. There was absolutely no touching. The second dancer came on stage just as I was leaving, so I don't know if she was any better. The music was too loud. The barmaid chose the music and it was some kind of techno music you'd hear in a dance club. Very heavy bass and percussion. The bar was vibrating from the music. You could bearly hear the dancer when I talked to her. This place was much better when it was the old RJ's.

Small, friendly neighborhood bar. I love this place for the music, nonstop rock n roll. Dancers are average looking, but very friendly and won't hound for tips. No lap dances here. The bathrooms...well, I don't know about the men's room, but the ladies room is also the dressing room and there was no soap and no paper towels. Overall, this place could use some improvement, but it's fun if you're just looking to have a few drinks and chat with some ladies.
