From an online article:
Milwaukee strip club shuts doors because downtown is too violent
You know your downtown has a problem when even the strip joint won't stick around!
A strip club has temporarily closed because Downtown Milwaukee is too violent, thanks to decades of liberal governance.
According to the statement, the club is closing due to continued shootings, gun violence and other serious public safety incidents in the Water Street and Juneau Avenue entertainment district that have created an environment in which the company is no longer comfortable putting employees and customers at risk at its location, 144 E. Juneau Ave. 'This is a decision we never wanted to make, but there comes a point when you have to put people ahead of business,' Silk on Water said in the statement. 'Our employees matter. Our customers matter. Their safety comes before revenue.'
This comes after a popular bar, Duke's on Water, closed its doors permanently back in May for similar reasons.
(Milwaukee PD has applied for a lease at the old Duke's location, but how they will use the building remains unknown.)
Over the past two years, the Water Street area has become terrible. Shootings, fights, and plain shady behavior have plagued the area ever since the Bucks won the NBA title in 2021.
It's only gotten worse since then.
