And why would the club make a big deal out of it? They could obviously take your picture without your knowing. Maybe they just want to plant that seed in your mind that they have recorded you, so you'd better behave.

If I went to a strip club and they wanted to take my photo before getting in, they would lose a customer.

Commie States gonna Commie. I am sure there was bill that was passed by the New York legislature require stripclubs to take a picture and submit your fingerprints and stool sample to the FBI and NY State Police. You for protecting the kids or some shit.
