Hey guys -
After years trying to make it happen it looks like I finally have a tiny window to visit TJ over the weekend.
I arrive in San Diego on Saturday morning and must leave for the airport by Monday (first thing in the morning)
Just wondering if anyone knows:
-
On Saturdays what is the best time to cross INTO Mexico?
-
On Sundays (including Monday very early morning, like before 6am) what is the best time to Cross BACK INTO the USA ?
Also, on a completely unrelated note - does Cascadas have set times for check-in and check out??
Thank you in advance!!!

Crossing into Mexico is rarely a problem. I wouldn't worry about it.
I have Global entry so, don't really worry about the line returning to the US. I'd guess before 0600 Monday would be ok. Sunday will be busy all day but especially bad in the afternoon.
Cascadas check-in is at 3:00. I understand that they will hold your luggage for you if you arrive earlier.
Enjoy and be sure to post a report!
Thanks man!!!
And oh yeah - I am hoping I am gonna have a hell of a tale to tell!!!
At least that’s the hope!
@devl_dawgg Is spot-on. You should have no problems regardless of when you cross. If you don't have GE, just be ready for a potentially long (2-3 hours) wait coming back in, depending on your return day/time of course.
If you don't have GE, and want to cross back on a weekend, the rule of thumb is simple: the time that is most inconvenient to the regular joe will be the quickest.
Cascadas will occasionally allow an early check-in, but there's usually only potential for that on off-peak weekdays. As devl_dawgg pointed out, they will indeed hold your luggage. So arrive whenever you arrive with no concerns.
Thursday is my single favorite night. not so much of a sausage fest as the weekend is. But still for your first visit Friday and Saturday is epic. But just too crowded with guys for me usually.
I almost always stay at Cascadas or Rizo on weekdays, so I cannot speak to the weekends, but I often arrive around noon and if a room is available, they let me check in…with a small tip.
