Officials say on Saturday, August 20, deputies responded to a report of gunfire at the Sunset Strip Gentlemen’s Club.
Officials say they learned a physical altercation occurred between Best and an employee.
In court documents obtained by KATU News, Best began harassing one of the dancers and was trying to pressure her into "working for him as a prostitute."
When she refused, he hit her in the face and Best told his girlfriend to do the same. Best was then kicked out of the club by a bouncer, and he threatened to shoot them.
Once in the parking lot, Best got into a vehicle to leave. Officials say as Best passed the club, he fired a handgun, hitting the building and another patron’s car. No one was shot, but deputies say one employee suffered superficial injuries from bullet shrapnel.
The altercation and shooting were captured on surveillance video from the club. Detectives used that footage to identify Best.
Portland Police took Best into custody on September 6, on an unrelated traffic stop. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office took Best to the Washington County Jail.
The grand jury indicted Best on the following charges:
Attempted murder in the second degree
Unlawful use of a firearm (4 counts)
Felon in possession of a weapon
Assault in the fourth degree
If community members have any information about the shooting at The Sunset Strip Gentlemen’s Club on August 20, they are asked to contact detectives at 503 846-2700.

Sadly, these are the folks who get released back on the street to terrorize law abiding citizens.
