WEST DEPTFORD — Six women were arrested and charged with engaging in prostitution after a multi-agency sting revealed several employees of the Club Champagne strip club were allegedly acting as prostitutes.

According to Acting Police Chief Samuel DiSimone, the arrests were part of a six-month investigation into the club on 1102 Crown Point Road by members of several Gloucester County police departments and the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

DiSimone said the West Deptford Police Department had been receiving numerous anonymous tips about employees of the club offering sex acts in exchange for money before beginning the investigation.

The department, along with the assistance of the Paulsboro and Woolwich Police Departments, sent undercover officers into the club who reported they were “repeatedly propositioned by employees or dancers from the club, who offered to perform various sex acts […] in exchange for money,” according to DiSimone.

The sting was performed Saturday morning shortly after midnight by numerous police departments including Paulsboro, Woolwich and Westville police departments.

The following employees were arrested and charged with engaging in prostitution as a result of the sting operation led by Cpl. Kevin Donahue of the West Deptford Police Department.

•Carla D. Souza, 24, of Philadelphia, Pa. was charged with two counts of engaging in prostitution.
•Jasmin Vasquez, 29, of Philadelphia, Pa. was charged with two counts of engaging in prostitution.
•Kristin E. Perkins, 20, of Blackwood was charged with one count of engaging in prostitution.
•Kelly L. Sharp, 41, of Gloucester was charged with one count of engaging in prostitution.
•Jazmin T. Walker, 20, of Blackwood was charged with three counts of engaging in prostitution.
•Belinda L. Spoletini, 36, of Brooklawn was charged with one count of prostitution.

The additional employee, Ashle Potts, 25, of Pine Hill was also arrested, but on unrelated active warrants that had called for her arrest.

All the women were taken to the West Deptford Police Department and were processed and released on summons complaints.

DiSimone added that more charges could be pending as the investigation is still ongoing.

When asked if either the owner of the club or any additional employees such as any managers or supervisors might be charged, DiSimone said "at this point, they are not charged."

Currently, the club will not be forced to shut down and is up to review by the township administrator as to whether it will be allowed to open its doors after the arrest, according to DiSimone

Jester you nailed it. SIX months, three police departments, multiple officers "investigating," a Friday night "sting" and six (count 'em, six) non-violent, non-felony arrests. The women were "processed and released." I wonder who is up for reelection this fall?
