COPY: Careful Sharing Your Number

Etchasketch
I'm a regular visitor to a couple of clubs, but my frequency of consumption is probably about once a month. When I do go, I sometimes meet girls that I feel comfortable with. After seeing one particular girl a few times, she asked if I would give her my number. I did and exchanged texts with her on a number of occasions without incident. She would let me know that she was at the club, etc. I have nothing to hide, nor anyone to hide anything from, but my suspicions arose after a mundane interaction. I began to receive weird email links via text.
I began to speculate over the possibility that a verified telephone number might be an item of value to criminal organizations whose theater of operations is concentrated on digital communication. I don't volunteer my contact information randomly, but I an be pretty agreeable under certain influences. With this particular girl, she initiated the exchange of numbers. As I got to know her better, I had spent time with her outside the club, so we talked casually often. Eventually, I noticed a pattern where I would get a text from her. In cases where I responded promptly, I would get a link, along with a group of approximately twenty additional recipients whose numbers were in sequence with my own. Otherwise, no prompt reply from me would result in no such onslaught.
Since deleting her number from my contacts things have changed. Although she was no longer listed, I would continue to get invitations from. At this point I was reluctant to respond quickly. When I stopped in during my next opportunity, she complained about my ignoring her texts, but I was reluctant to get into it with her about my reasons. On that afternoon, we were able to sort out our bone of contention. She's a beautiful girl, and her hand jobs are life-affirming. One of the reasons that she is my favorite is her gratitude. I was quick to reply to her next invitations and no group text bombs ensued.
The experience caused me to wonder if this is common, or a coincidence. I don't use my phone to visit sites that are liable to be questionable, and I never did attempt to open any of the links. If you have a similar experience, this obvious solution is what seems to have worked for me. good luck.
