Are Strip Clubs an Addiction???

I'm not being judgmental when I say addiction, but for many does it meet the definition? Physically and/or mentally dependent on a particular substance, and unable to stop taking it without incurring adverse effects. But can you say the same about coffee, or sugar or golf or that stupid habit you have that is annoying but not detrimental? A more practical definition I've heard is something is an addiction "when it's causing a problem in your life"
I've done plenty of boozing and most every drug and enjoyed them all, but always was aware of the 'addiction' possibility and could always pull back because I didn't want to and couldn't take the negative consequences. But it seems not so with strip clubs. For some there are little negative consequences, for others it is an obsessive all consuming activity. For most I think we tend to minimize the downside. I once went to a therapist (after the breakup of my marriage) and I revealed my big secret, that I frequented strip clubs (although in my denial I minimized the extent and activities inside) He replied "So you like to see young pretty girls dance naked?" "What's wrong with that? Perhaps if you feel guilty about it or feel it is preventing you from your goals (establishing a 'real' relationship) perhaps you shouldn't go......or go less often" Sound advice indeed. I sometimes wonder why don't a larger % of men frequent these establishments. How many men look at the Sports Illustrated Swim suit issue or look at bare tit's on HBO, but it would be unthinkable to go to a strip club. I guess they stop at one drink.
