MARTINSBURG - An exotic dancer from Martinsburg, who allegedly pick-pocketed $2,400 from a Washington, D.C., man during a private dance after he won $3,000 at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, was arraigned this weekend on an outstanding warrant charging her with felony grand larceny.

Amanda Dawn Epling, 18, of Hanshew Lane, was later released after posting $5,000 bail following her arraignment Saturday.

According to court records, at about 1:08 a.m. Dec. 28, 2011, Berkeley County Sheriff's Deputy C. Cochran was dispatched to a complaint of a larceny not in progress at Paradise City, a club located off Winchester Avenue in Bunker Hill.

Cochran spoke with the alleged victim, who stated that earlier that day he was at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races and had won $3,000.

The victim stated that he left the racetrack and went to Paradise City with a friend. When they arrived, the victim said he gave his friend $200 and then paid for and received a 30-minute private dance from one of the dancers at the establishment. When the private dance was over, the victim said he noticed the remaining money he won at the track, $2,400 in cash, was gone, records show.

He approached the club's manager and told him he believed his money was stolen by one of the dancers. The victim said he told the manager that the money was in his right pocket and asked the manager to see if anything was caught on video, records show.

Cochran spoke with the club's manager, who confirmed the victim's statement and allowed Cochran to review the video inside the club.

Cochran reviewed the video footage of the private dance and observed the female dancer, later identified as Epling, reach into the victim's right pocket and remove the money. The video then showed the dancer put the money into the couch that she was performing the dance on, records show.

The video later showed the dancer remove the money and place it into a bag that she was carrying, records show.

The club's manager gave police the dancer's identity. The manager also said that after Epling performed the private dance, she asked to leave for the night because she wasn't feeling well, records show.

If convicted, Epling faces one to 10 years in prison or, at the court's discretion, up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $25,000.

Commentary:

Lesson in this? Watch your cash, you never know. I am more familiar with the girl that tries to get more than the going rate at a club for a private dance, not one that tries to find the wad of cash in your pocket! The other lesson learned is that the cameras in West Virginia clubs do work and the action is captured on tape.... probably not a lot of extras at that club!!!!!
