A catch-all account
From the way George described it, she might have been playing his friend (?) at the start, but later it got serious--sort of. It's not always a sharp line between playing someone & falling for someone. I suspect that for some women it can be a mixture of both.
Either way, the guy lived life fully with her. He had a great experience & when she decided to marry her boyfriend & move out west, the man took it as well as he was able & acted graciously. He has a great story to tell his buddies. Those are the only things that count.

DG - I look forward to reading more dispatches from your working life. It would be a kick to put you in the sketchbook with your permission, but unless I'm lucky you're probably dancing in a different state. (I'm in TX)

The OP has the kind of advice I wish I'd known when I first discovered SCs lo these many years ago. Even now, I'm considering printing it out--which is more than I can say for most stuff on the Net.

Zipman's post is a good one overall, but as for the thread, the same old partisanship gets stale after a while. I am not a Libertarian; in fact I'm not even on the conventional spectrum. My political stance is moderately authoritarian & very elitist. Yes, you actually read that. I have no use for push-button conservatives or liberals. You do not have to be a Libertarian to find anti-prostitution laws absurd--which I do. When a trade is illegal it cannot be regulated for any consumer's benefit; thus ripoffs are a common occurrence for johns who are inexperienced in dealing with escorts, while human trafficking is run by criminal syndicates & the women who are involved often have no options to find help. (Rescue orgs exist, sure, but they are only effective when they are known. Those who are held captive are unlikely to find out who to call to get bailed out of the trade.) You're not about to go to the police when you are involved in an illegal activity to begin with. If prostitution were legalized, if marijuana were legalized, then they could be regulated for sound business practices (as opposed to cutting corners for profits), & they would also become revenue sources. We can complain about taxes all we like, but at the end of the day, services that government provides don't come for free. (One could object that the fedgov is doing a lousy job of managing its money, & I would agree...but that's a subject for a different thread.)

Heatmiser posted thoughts I had halfway into my 2nd year inside the clubs. Even then I had an idea of what the job required. Having said that, I have also encountered plenty who I later compared to sharks. It's all in how the woman approaches her job...When I turn a stripper down, I try to do it tactfully.

I dunno... I used to be for legalizing the trade, but frankly I wonder now if any amount of gov't oversight can clean it up. And human trafficking does happen; eastern Europe is the main region that supplies women these days with southeast Asia running a close second. It's one thing for a stripper to decide to do.P4P OTC; it's her decision. But a woman lured with promises of good-paying work somewhere, then taken to a different country & kept in a room where she services whoever walks in or else she gets beaten...what could legalization do about that?

Hell if I know, but one cause could be misallocation of resources. I cannot say whether this applies to the entire US but I've lived in three different places where law enforcers put enough time & effort into crackng down on one type of crime that other crimes went undetected & unpunished. When I lived in the Midwest, for the cops it was all about catching speeders. They would respond to a domestic dispute if called, but the main thing was writing those speeding & traffic tickets. It was all about the revenue. In Vegas the situation differed on how it played out but had things in common with flyover country. The differences were that in Vegas the tourists were usually left alone unless they really got out of hand, whereas with locals they would impound your car for a broken taillight & busted meth dealers all the time, while escort service was mostly untouched. Where I am now it's truly pathetic: A few days ago five officers in three copmobiles, & a firetruck, all showed up to catch a streaker. The firetruck & one patrol car blocked off northbound lanes of the street where he was apprehended. All for a guy with no clothes. On Friday nights you can report a domestic disturbance & maybe 1/2-hour later a single officer in a patrol car will swing by. If he doesn't see anything, he'll keep going.
Maybe that's why so much of the sex trade gets away with its doings. Not enough cops, & the ones we have keep going after petty crimes more than anything else.

Interesting responses. Even with my experiences I learned a couple things here. One thing I'd add on being thoughtful is don't wear a belt with a large buckle. When your dancer does her thing, the edges or corners of the buckle can make it uncomfortable for both of you.

This thread is hilarious.
And I know the response is dated, but Rose, I hope you make it to my town. If you do & work in the clubs here, let me know in advance. You'll see a kind of customer you may not have seen before (depending on what UK clubs are like).

A catch-all account
Why anyone would want to pay for conversation in an SC, I don't know. Every club I've been in has had loud music; sometimes too loud & often the music sucks. No way will I pay $20 per hour or however much a stripper wants for the privilege of shouting into each other's ears.

I don't ask questions like those unless/until I've seen a dancer a few times. However, I've talked with a dancer, bought one dance & 12 minutes later or so had er tell me more stuff about herself than I want to know. "No, Paige, I did NOT need to hear about the abortion you had when you were 15."

My experience bears that out also--in two states so far. If a girl is Playmate-of-the-Year quality & knows it, you won't get too much mileage from her because she knows she's desirable. That goes double if she's the only 9 in the place while the others are 6 at most. I prefer the average-looking ones. Treat them as if they're 9 or better & you'll get mileage.
