While we're on the subject, if you travel out of country you should scan or take a picture of your passport card or the picture page of your passport. Email it to yourself and at least one trusted friend who can send it back to you if needed.
As far as carrying cash is concerned, you should never carry a big wad of it, period. You don't need more than $50 in small bills, and the rest you can bring as 50s and 100s. A few big bills are easier to conceal and the bartenders at HK will make change for you without batting an eye.

mr.wonderful to single moms and college age girls...
I was thinking of heading down there this fall, but it's looking like early next year for me as well, One thing that I haven't seen yet is an announcement that the STD testing office is open again, and that alone is a deal breaker for me...

@mark94: Actually it's not relevant unless it clearly exonerates the cop, and this result doesn't do that. In MN, the facts we know so far still warrant a murder charge.
@chessmaster: These two men apparently knew each other because both worked security at a club there and their shifts overlapped. It may actually be first degree murder depending on whether that's relevant to what happened.

You're overthinking this IMO -- soap is more effective than alcohol-based sanitizer, and it smells better. Turn the VIP booths into two-person shower stalls...

I'm glad that I ended up going there later than usual this year, mid-March instead of February like I typically do... I'm just saving my sheckels right now for the next window of opportunity and trying to write a coherent article on the logistics of getting there and staying there...

Oh, and I believe that a lot of putas would choose staying in CDMX over TJ if the choice was there. Easier to get to in general, safer, and more fun.

Here's an article from last summer: https://theowp.org/mexico-takes-first-step-towards-regulating-sex-work/
The upshot, to my eye, is that this paves the way for SCs/brothels to get established if the city decides to designate a red light district similar to TJ's. I don't know if that's possible given that the federal district is kind of a neutral ground for the cartels, but the city could potentially follow the European models like Amsterdam. That's where the hoping part comes in.
If it comes to pass, then what's available in TJ would also be available in a world class city with culture, nightlife and the rest *and* it wouldn't be any farther or harder to get to for me... it's not that I don't like TJ, I just like CDMX a whole lot more. :-)

I'm still holding out hope for CDMX now that they've liberalized their sex worker regulations... it would replace TJ as a destination for me for sure if they got their own Zona.

I agree with shailynn... time management would be key if you want to make this work or else you're spending a significant amount of time resolving time conflicts between the two.
As far as equipment goes, I have a Samsung Note9 plus a small folding stand and a folding bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad. You probably want something similar if you're going to take it into a club -- something small enough that you can stow it in a small bag rather than leaving it in a locker where it might get swiped, and portable enough that you can switch between the two jobs with a minimum of fuss. OTOH, a small tablet will be much easier on your eyes if that's a consideration.
Cashman's concern is valid, too, but you can get around that by investing in a decent VPN app or upgrading your data plan and working via the cell network.

Agreed. Simply being in possession of a smartphone guarantees that you're sharing personal information with the carrier and whoever wrote the apps on it, plus the government. You don't get a say in it. Big question is what those entities do with it. If it's libertarians collecting it, they're just going to sell it to the highest bidder. Libertarians are not altruists any more than the other political tribes.

- If you're into music, try _This Is Your Brain on Music_ by Dan Levitin,
- fantasy, try _Declare_ by Tim Powers,
- autobiography, try _Harpo Speaks_,
- art history, try _The Gentle Art of Making Enemies_ (a collection of correspondence between James Whistler and his critics),
- sci fi, try _Altered Carbon_ by Richard K. Morgan (much better than the Netflix series IMO)

mr.wonderful to single moms and college age girls...
Any city the size of San Diego is going to be tricky as far as finding safe, cheap/free parking goes. If I were local, I'd have the time and knowledge to figure out something that worked like TJLee. Since I'm not, it's far easier to just plan for paying for parking in San Ysidro... my default is the lot across from the outlet mall. A lot of CBP employees park there, it's pretty secure and it's right by PedWest.
Pre-COVID I would have just said ditch the car and take public transit, but my last time doing that I was making my way back to the airport after dark and it felt dicier than walking in TJ at night. The way things are now, I'm doing a cab or Uber if I end up going through SAN just to avoid the crazies wandering the downtown area these days. :-)

Assuming that some bio-Einstein finds a way to control if not prevent the virus, I think mongering will almost be the same as it used to be by this time next year. I'm old enough to remember flying on the first anniversary of 9/11, and people had largely settled back into the way things were before. Again, almost. We'll have a new normal that we'll have to work around and we will.
Might be slightly different within the U.S. because the Moral Majority still loves it when a president pays a pornstar for sex but hates it when Joe Citizen wants to feel up some titties while drinking a beer. :-)
